Rolex GMT-Master 1675 "Long E" Dial (1969)

*Watch Only*

Pre-owned Rolex GMT-Master Ref. 1675, with a 40mm stainless steel case, steel bidirectional rotatable 24-hour graduated bezel with black aluminum lunette, black matte MK1 "Long E" Tritium (“SWISS -  T<25”) dial with creamy indices, hour, minutes and seconds hands, red GMT hour hand with creamy arrowhead, date indicator at 3 o’clock with cyclops magnifier. Plexiglass crystal. Automatic movement calibre 1570. Oyster steel bracelet with Oysterlock safety deployant clasp (doesn't correspond).

We offer you a watch with an MK1 or "Long E" dial. It was the erstwhile earliest matte dial variation before the MK0 was recognized. The nickname for this dial comes from the middle bar of the "E" in "ROLEX", which is much longer than on other variations and is unique to this dial. The MK1 dial is very easy to pick out amongst matte dial 1675s. Look first at the coronet and then look at the "E" in "ROLEX". If the coronet is string-like and the "E"  has a long middle bar, it is a MK1.

In good state of conservation. Watch only (without original box and papers).

Read more about this watch...

As the world became a global territory for industrialization, a growing population in the need to travel between countries boosted civil aviation. In 1953,
Rolex was entrusted to design a technical wristwatch specially for Pan Am’s crew. The result of this important task was the GMT-Master: able to read the time in 2 different time zones simultaneously. Rolex furnished the GMT-Master with a pair of center hour and minute hands to indicate the local time along with an extra 24-hour hand to display a second time zone by pointing to the 24-hour-marked rotating bezel.

From 1959 to 1980, the Rolex GMT-Master 1675 was the only GMT model produced by Rolex. It became immensely popular and, as is Rolex’s style, was incrementally improved throughout those 21 years. In 1965, Rolex rolled out the 1575 movement, which beat at faster 19.800 VPH and was engraved [1570] for its base calibre. The 1575 movement was later upgraded with a hacking function around 1971; this version of the 1575 remained the same throughout the rest of the 1675 production run. The calibre 1570 is a certified chronometer (COSC) movement. It is an automatic self-winding calibre with 26 jewels with a power reserve of 48 hours.

Another important characteristic is the "Thin case", which is 12,7mm thick.
